The contrast between calm western beaches and the rugged, wave-battered eastern coast is what gives the island its character. Travel here is genuinely easy, which is part of the appeal. US dollars are accepted everywhere alongside the local florin, plenty of people speak English on top of Dutch, Spanish, and the local Papiamento, and the island feels safe and relaxed. It is small, so getting around by rental car, taxi, or the main bus route is straightforward. The flip side of that reliable weather is that Aruba is a fairly upscale destination, so expect resort-level prices, especially in high season. Timing is forgiving here since it is warm and sunny almost always, but the driest, most reliable stretch runs from January through August, while the low season later in the year can bring occasional short showers and better deals. Peak crowds and rates arrive over the northern winter holidays. Come for the certainty of sunshine, the postcard beaches, and that easygoing island rhythm, then surprise yourself with a day in the desert interior that most sun-seekers never bother to see.
